Rising star to take on female lead in THOR: RAGNAROK!
Thor will have a new leading lady in his third solo installment– and it’s not Lady Sif!
Tessa Thompson has joined Thor: Ragnarok and while little is known about her character, Deadline reports that she will be Thor’s love interest.
In the comics, Thor’s relationship with Jane Foster, played by Natalie Portman, does eventually sour– though in this case, reports indicate that the split will occur because Portman declined to re-up her contract with Marvel. The Norse God ends up with fellow Asgardian companion Lady Sif… who later breaks his heart. While Jaimie Alexander will reportedly return as Sif, it seems the film will skip that chapter. But which of his other love interests is Tessa Thompson playing? The Enchantress (the Marvel one, that is)? Brunhilde the Valkyrie? Or someone else entirely?
Tessa Thompson has been an actress on the rise for the past few years, starring in HBO’s Westworld, Creed, Selma, and Dear White People, among other projects.
Thor: Ragnarok is due to begin production in late July. The film will hit theaters on November 3, 2017.
