13 REASONS WHY Season 2 Adds Seven New Actors

After millions of views and record-breaking chatter followed the release of 13 Reasons Why Season 1, the show geared up for a somewhat unexpected second season.

The first season was largely based on Jay Asher‘s book of the same name, but the book has no sequel, so Season 2 will be an original creation at the hands of the showrunners. However, a slew of new characters giving us some idea what to expect.

Like last season, there will be plenty of athletes involved. Anne Winters (Zac & Mia) will play Chloe, the new head cheerleader at Liberty High and a classic “it-girl.” Samantha Logan (666 Park Avenue) joins as Nina, “a well respected track star with a secret”. It seems the story will take place during the spring sports season as Ben Lawson (No Strings Attached) has been cast as Rick, the “beloved” baseball coach.

But not all the newbies are the athletic types. Newcomer Bryce Cass and Chelsea Alden (Veep) will play siblings Cyrus and Mackenzie, a “cynical mischief maker” and an outspoken artsy type, both of whom stir things up at the high school.

Outside of the high school environment, we’ll meet two new adult characters: Broadway star Kelli O’Hara (The Good Fight) as an anti-bullying advocate named Jackie and Allison Miller (Incorporated) as Sonya, a young litigator taking on Hannah’s parents lawsuit against the school district.

While it doesn’t give us all the details, we can gather that the story is set in springtime and will feature Hannah’s parents’ case.

According to Variety, none of the characters are series regulars but will appear in the majority of episodes.

13 Reasons Why Season 2 in expected out sometime in 2018, but does not have an official release date quite yet.
