The 2016 Children’s Choice Book Awards winners announced, which included one for YA author Jennifer Niven.

The Children’s Book Council and Every Child a Reader had there 97th annual Children’s Book Week last week, and held their 9th annual Children’s Choice Book Awards to recognize some amazing books for children and teens.  Included were a couple of awards for teen books – Teen Book of the Year and Teen Choice Debut Author.

This year, author Jennifer Niven won for Teen Book of the Year for All the Bright Places.  Those who were among the finalists were Sarah J. Maas for A Court of Thorn and Roses, Jenny Han’s P.S. I Still Love You, Victoria Aveyard’s Red Queen, and Marissa Meyer’s Winter (The Lunar Chronicles).

For Teen Choice Debut Author, the finalists were Becky Albertalli for Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda, Kelly Loy Gilbert for Conviction, Adam Silvera for More Happy Than Not, Sabaa Tahir for An Ember in the Ashes, and Tommy Wallach for We All Looked Up.  Kelly Loy Gilbert was the winner.

Previous winners for Teen Book of the Year included The One by Kiera Cass, Allegiant by Veronica Roth, The Fault in Our Stars by John Green, and Clockwork Prince by Cassandra Clare.

The previous winner for Teen Choice Debut Author was Jennifer Mathieu for The Truth About Alice.  This is the second year in which the category has been in the awards.
