5 Things We Know about Once Upon a Time Season 7 (PLUS Deleted Scenes)

October 6 is just under two months away, and you know what that means: Once Upon a Time’s Season 7 premiere is around the corner.

This season promises to be full of surprises, but there are some things we know for sure. Without further ado, here are 5 things we know about Once Upon a Time Season 7.

It’s All About Henry and Cinderella

Get ready for a new epic romance on Once Upon a Time. We’ve had so many: Charming and Snow, Emma and Hook, Rumplestilskin and Belle, Regina and Robin… now we have Henry and Cinderella (and their presumed daughter, Lucy). But wait? Didn’t we have a Cinderella already? Not to worry, the showrunners haven’t forgotten. Dania Ramirez will not be replacing Jessy Schram, who played the original OUAT Cinderella. Executive producer Edward Kitsis explains,

Ramirez will be playing a different version of Cinderella. If we remember Henry’s grandfather is Prince Charming – we have the grandson of Prince Charming with a new Cinderella. Henry is in a new Enchanted Forest, with characters that we have seen before but with different tales.

He also clarifies, “This year we’re showing you how [Henry and Cinderella] met, how they fell in love, and whether or not they’ll find each other in Seattle.”

Regina, Hook, and Rumplestiltskin Aren’t Exactly Themselves

While three fan favorites are returning, their characters have undergone massive shifts under the new curse. Not only have Regina, Hook, and Rumplestilskin relocated to Hyperion Heights in Seattle, their personas are completely different. Regina is reportedly a bar owner named Roni. Hook is a uniformed cop (an odd turn of events for a former pirate). Rumple’s persona is still more of a mystery. Executive producer Adam Horowitz didn’t reveal too many details, but did imply that Rumple is still the shady character of the neighborhood.

Don’t Panic! The Happy Beginnings Aren’t Over

“We are not looking to get rid of any of the happy endings. … But we are moving forward, and we think we have a way to achieve both things,” says Kitsis. We’ll see Emma in episode 2 and Belle in episode 4. Both Kitsis and Horowitz have assured fans on multiple occasions that they don’t want to undercut the happy beginnings we saw at the end of Season 6.

“Regina” and Adult Henry’s Relationship Could Be Rocky

Roni (Regina’s new persona) doesn’t recognize Henry in Hyperion Heights. Lana Parrilla explains,

“When we meet each other in this other world, we are our cursed selves, so we don’t really know each other. We actually meet, we reunite after many years in a flashback. Regina has not seen this grown man before. So she’s taken back by that and is finding their relationship now that he’s no longer this little boy.”

The Showrunners Have Another Long-Term Plan – But It All Depends on Us

ABC Chief Channing Dungey is confident about the show’s future, despite the unfavorable change from Sunday nights to Friday nights.

“They’ve taken the DNA of what made Once so special from the beginning, and yet they’ve come up with an entirely new way to tell the stories, which is fantastic. … A lot of it is going to depend on how these new characters and this new storyline resonates. If it does, we have the opportunity to tell multiple years with these new characters, and if not, we’ll look at the series as we’re going into this year and talk about how we wind it down.”

To sum it up: if the fans continue to watch, the show will continue to run. What do you think after hearing these 5 things we know? Will you continue to watch Once Upon a Time Season 7? If you’re feeling nostalgic already and missing some of the show’s original cast, check out these two deleted scenes from Season 6. Love’s true light is revealed in this scene, and Charming vents to a sleeping-cursed Snow in this scene. Bring a tissue.
