80s Rocker Rick Springfield Joins SUPERNATURAL Season 12

Actor/musician Rick Springfield will soon be headed to The CW’s SUPERNATURAL!

Supernatural may have just dropped the most random of all the random announcements at San Diego Comic-Con this year: Rocker and soap opera star Rick Springfield has signed on for the upcoming season!

At the panel today, executive producer Robert Singer noted that Lucifer will be trying out several different vessels over the course of the season, looking for the strongest one. Rick Springfield will play his first vessel, described as “a rock star who’s a little bit on the down side who’s trying to come back.”

But will there be singing involved?!

Rick Springfield is perhaps best known for the hit 1980s single “Jessie’s Girl,” but he was also on General Hospital from 1981 to 2013. He also has roles in Californication, Human Target, True Detective, and Ricki and the Flash.

Supernatural returns to The CW on October 12, 2016.

Let’s celebrate with a song, shall we?
