Luke Cage’s Sonia Braga will be playing mother to Julia Roberts’ character in the movie adaptation of WONDER.
Sonia Braga joins Julia Roberts and Jacob Tremblay in the movie adaptation of R.J. Palacio’s Wonder. Braga will play the mother of Roberts’ Isabel Pullman, thus the grandmother to Tremblay’s Auggie Pullman.
The story of Wonder focuses on Auggie Pullman, a boy born with a strong facial deformity, who has to deal with going to a mainstream school for the first time. Obviously, his family will play a very big part in this time of transition as he tries to fit in at the school and befriend his peers.
Sonia will also be joined by Owen Wilson (Wedding Crashers, Midnight in Paris) as Auggie’s father, Mandy Patinkin (Homeland, Criminal Minds), Izabela Vidovic (The Fosters, About a Boy) as Auggie’s sister, and Hamilton: An American Musical‘s Daveed Diggs.

Sonia Braga has a long list of credits in both American and Brazilian TV and films, which includes her American breakout role in 1985’s Kiss of the Spider Woman and ABC’s Alias. She’ll be seen in the Brazilian movie Aquarius in September anew Netflix original series, Luke Cage, as Soledad Temple.
Wonder is currently filming and is set to be in theaters starting April 7, 2017.
