New ALADDIN Clip Explores The Complexities Of A Wish

Aladdin learns the specifics of making a wish in a new movie clip!

A genie can grant you three wishes. Sounds easy, right? Well, it’s not!

A comical new clip from the upcoming live-action version of Aladdin is showing us just how complicated a wish can be. In the animated classic, Aladdin tells Genie to “make him a prince” and Genie does it just as he imagined without issue. In this film, Genie (Will Smith) gets a little sassy with Aladdin (Mena Massoud) because really, wishes are all in the details.

While there’s plenty of charm and fun-loving energy in his performance, it’s clear to see that Will Smith is making Genie his own character– which is a very good thing! Robin Williams‘ performance was amazing, but trying to imitate it would be an exercise in futility. It’s also refreshing to see that this version of the Genie won’t be blue through the whole movie as it just doesn’t seem like that would work as well in live-action.

On top of that, we appreciate Disney showing us some fun moments that aren’t straight from the previous film, as they’ve promised audiences since day one that there would be original elements to savor. Here’s the proof!

Aladdin hits theaters on May 24, 2019.
