Surprise! The Darkest Minds author Alexandra Bracken has some big news that burst forth into the world just today: Her debut novel is getting new life as a graphic novel!
The fantasy novel begins just as a decade-long drought ends and a the mysterious wizard Wayland North appears to 14-year-old Sydelle Mirabil, whisking her away to become his assistant and help stop the impending war threatening her home. But between dark secrets, an evil wizard hunting them down, and strange phenomena occurring all around, will how can they ever manage?
The graphic novel was adapted by Leigh Dragoon (with input from Bracken) and illustrated by Kit Seaton, who also created this super charming cover featuring Sydelle and Wayland:

Alexandra Bracken tweeted her excitement for the new take at length, nothing that she used the opportunity to “retool a few elements I felt I could have done better in the book” now that she’s a more experienced writer.
