Alexandra Shipp in Talks, Jorge Lendeborg Jr. Signs on for SIMON VS. THE HOMO SAPIENS AGENDA

X-Men: Apocalypse’s Alexandra Shipp is in negotiations for a lead role in SIMON VS. THE HOMO SAPIENS AGENDA, but Jorge Lendeborg Jr. has been cast.

Alexandra Shipp (X-Men: Apocalypse, Straight Outta Compton) is currently in talks for a lead role in the movie adaptation of Becky Albertalli’s best-selling novel, Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda.

The movie is about not-so-openly gay 16-year-old Simon Spier who finds himself being blackmailed by classmate Martin when Martin comes across a private communication between Simon and another boy named Blue.

Now, there are only a couple of female roles that she could take, but one of the female roles – Leah – is already taken by Australian-born Katherine Langford. Which means she is likely to be fellow best-friend to male lead Simon (to be played by Nick Robinson), Abby.

There could also be the possibly of Shipp playing the role of Simon’s sister, Nora, but Abby seems more lead role character than Nora.

Anyway, we’re excited to hear the announcement of yet another casting as we still have a few more characters to fill.

Speaking of which, it was also announced by Deadline that up-and-comer Jorge Lendeborg, Jr. (Spider-Man: Homecoming, The Land), has officially joined the cast for the movie. His role has not been announced yet, but one of the potential characters he could play would be Blue.

Greg Berlanti (The CW’s The Flash, The CW’s Supergirl) will direct the film with a script written by NBC’s This Is Us executive producers Isaac Aptaker & Elizabeth Berger.

We’ll keep you updated on more casting as it comes!
