Allison Janney has signed on to play Jacob’s psychiatrist in the movie adaptation of Ransom Riggs’ novel.
MISS PEREGRINE’S HOME FOR PECULIAR CHILDREN has added yet another powerhouse cast member! Award-winning actress Allison Janney has signed on for the role of Dr. Golan, Jacob’s psychiatrist who suspects he’s peculiar and actually means him much more harm than good.
Dr. Golan is male in Ransom Riggs’ book, but the author has no qualms about the change:

MISS PEREGRINE’S tells the story of Jacob, a teen who finds himself on a mysterious island where he discovers he is a “peculiar” with special powers. With the help of the titular protector Miss Peregrine, he must work to protect himself and the other peculiars living on the island.
Tim Burton will direct the adaptation, which also stars Asa Butterfield, Eva Green, Samuel L. Jackson, and Ella Purnell.
Janney stars on the CBS sitcom MOM but is best known for performances on THE WEST WING, THE WAY WAY BACK, and 10 THINGS I HATE ABOUT YOU. Her most recent theatrical release was THE DUFF.
