Amazon Prime’s new push for exclusivity forces out DOCTOR WHO and most other BBC programming.
We had a scare last month when it was rumored that Netflix would be dropping BBC programming including DOCTOR WHO due to contractual disagreements. Fortunately, BBC and Netflix worked out their differences and most major shows still remain. However, that doesn’t mean the shows are safe– Amazon Prime streaming service will soon be dropping DOCTOR WHO and other BBC shows.
While Netflix is more all encompassing, their competitor is looking to draw fans in with exclusive shows that you can only find on Amazon Prime. Given that most BBC programming is available on other streaming services, it will no longer make the cut on Prime.
There is one major BBC phenomenon that will stay on board: Orphan Black will be one of the streaming service’s exclusive shows.
