Meet the newest AMERICAN GODS, including a replacement for Media!

After a bit of a shake-up, Season 2 of American Gods is on the way, and three additional actors are coming along with the new season!

Season 1 followed Shadow Moon (Ricky Whittle) after he’s released from prison only to discover that his wife, Laura (Emily Brown) had just died. During his grief, he’s approached by the mysterious Mr. Wednesday (Ian McShane) and reluctantly agrees to serve as his right-hand man in some unknown business dealings. Soon, Shadow releases that Mr. Wednesday is more than just a shady businessman– he’s a god edging of power between the gods of old and the “new gods”.

Dean Winters, from John Wick and about 100 Allstate commercials, will join the new season as Mr. Town, an accomplice of Mr. World (Crispin Glover) tasked with finding Shadow and getting Mr. Wednesday’s plans out of him.

Devery Jacobs is set to play Sam Black Crow, a Native American college student who Shadow meets on the road. When it comes to gods, Sam is a skeptic at best, but when fate connects Shadow and Sam in unexpected ways, she learns the truth of his story.

In a clever twist, Kahyun Kim has been cast as New Media, a take on Gillian Anderson‘s Media that focuses on social network interaction and content manipulation. Basically, she’s the master of fake news. The original Media will no longer be featured, as Gillian Anderson left the show following the departures of showrunners Bryan Fuller and Michael Green, allegedly due to budget concerns.

American Gods Season 2 does not have a official release date quite yet.
