Shadow Moon, Mr. Wednesday, and Mad Sweeney are introduced in new AMERICAN GODS photos!
The first photos from the set of American Gods, the upcoming television show based on the novel by Neil Gaiman, have hit the Internet and they’re introducing us to one of the show’s most interesting locations and scenes!
Jack’s is the heinously crocodile-themed dive bar where Shadow Moon (Ricky Whittle) first proves himself to the mysterious (Mr. Wednesday) by going toe-to-toe in a battle with a not-so-average leprechaun, Mad Sweeney (Pablo Schreiber). In the first images from Entertainment Weekly, we’re seeing that big scene play out!
“His experience of [the world of the gods]is very genuine and grounded, and we want to watch him be introduced to and beaten up by this new reality,” said executive producer Bryan Fuller of the scene.
Take a look.
“It was one of the sets that we were the most excited about and an opportunity to do a tonal landgrab for what we are and what the style of the show will be,” said Fuller, who once helmed shows like Hannibal and Pushing Daisies. “[Jack’s] is a kind of hillbilly chic aesthetic for Shadow’s entrée into the world of the gods.”
From there, the series will take on series of wild twists and turns in the massive war between the Old Gods and the New Gods taking place in America’s Heartland.
Things definitely look interesting in the initial peeks, so we can’t wait to see how it all turns out when American Gods hits Starz in 2017!
