Amie Kaufman and Meagan Spooner’s UNEARTHED Headed To The Big Screen

Doug Liman developing YA sci-fi thriller UNEARTHED!

It’s pretty rare that a book gets acquired for film before it even has a cover or a full synopsis, but it’s no surprise that the film rights war over Amie Kaufman and Meagan Spooner’s latest started early!

The young adult sci-fi duo won’t be releasing Unearthed, the first in a planned duology, until sometime in 2017. An exact release date hasn’t even been set. But when Edge of Tomorrow and The Bourne Identity director Doug Liman’s production company Cross Creek approached the authors, Kaufman and Spooner jumped on the opportunity, according to Deadline.

Cross Creek is reportedly developing the project for Doug Liman to direct.

The book is described as “Lara Croft Meets Indiana Jones, set in deep space.” Here’s the official book blurb:

Jules Addison and Amelia Radcliffe join forces in a tomb-raiding race on a newly discovered planet to unravel the secrets of an ancient, long- extinct civilization — only to uncover a revelation that could spell the end of the human race.

The project is still in the very early stages and no release details have been announced.
