Anna Kendrick Wants To Be Marvel’s Squirrel Girl

For every Marvel hero that makes it to the big screen, there are plenty more that probably won’t. Still, Anna Kendrick is happily volunteering herself for one of those long-shot roles without hesitation!

While promoting Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates on Net-A-Porter, the actress brought up a surpring Marvel like she’s interested in:

“My brother sent me a Squirrel Girl comic because he thinks I should [play her]. I don’t know what Squirrel Girl does other than be half squirrel, but I could be half squirrel!”

Squirrel Girl is high school student Doreen Green with superhuman strength and agility, Wolverine-like “knuckle spikes,” a busy tail, quick wit, and ahem– the ability to communicate with squirrels. She’s also been nicknamed “The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl” because in the comics, this young lady has taken down almost every major Marvel villain (and some of the heroes, too!)

If the character were aged up and a comedic edge was the central goal, we could see Anna Kendrick going for it. It seems unlikely that Marvel would take their cinematic universe in that direction, but hey, they did give us Rocket Raccoon.

We don’t know how serious Anna Kendrick was about the part, but the news got plenty of reaction from fans, including this little fan art rendering from Kode at Boss Logic.

Could you see Anna Kendrick getting squirrel-y for Marvel?
