FOX’s long-rumored X-MEN spinoff movie has its first two leads!
New Mutants, a spinoff of the popular X-Men movies, has found its first two characters in Anna Taylor-Joy and Maisie Williams!
The movie, based off the first X-Men comic spinoff from the 1980s, will feature teen mutants from all over the world coming together to take on new threats against the world.
Anya Taylor-Joy (Split) will play Russian sorceress Magik, the sister of Deadpool‘s Colossus in the comics universe. Maisie Williams (Game of Thrones) will play Wolfsbane, a Scot whose ability to transform into a wolf challenges her religious upbringing.
Confirmed characters that have yet to be cast include Danielle Moonstar, Sunspot, Cannonball, and an alien known as Warlock. Moonstar is Native American and Sunspot is South American. According to THR, who first reported the news, Fox has put out an ethnically appropriate casting call for both roles.
The film, which will be directed by Josh Boone (The Fault In Our Stars), is due to hit theaters on April 13, 2018.
