CAPTAIN MARVEL welcomes a veteran actress to its ranks!
Four-time Academy Award nominee Annette Bening is the latest addition to Captain Marvel, the upcoming film that could offer up big answers for fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
According to Variety, Bening will be plays Carol Danvers aka Captain Marvel’s mother, Marie. She rarely appears in the comics, but Carol is raised in a very “traditional” home in which her parents support the dreams of her younger brothers over Carol’s. She outshines them all despite the adversity, of course. Marvel Studios plays fast and loose with comic characterizations, so this may not be the case in the movie at all.
Captain Marvel will be set in the 1990s and stars Brie Larson, Jude Law, Ben Mendelsohn, and Gemma Chan.
The end credit scene of Avengers: Infinity War hinted that Captain Marvel could be the key to defeating Thanos, so this movie has some big questions to answer, like how her powers work, how they could save half the universe, and where the heck she’s been all this time!
The movie is due to hit theaters on March 8, 2019.
