Principal photography has started for the ANT-MAN sequel, ANT-MAN AND THE WASP starring Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lilly!

The excitement of filming has started for Peyton Reed and the cast of Ant-Man and the Wasp as it was officially announced today, and we’re even more excited this time around, because not only do they have some memorable cast of characters returning, but they’ve added some pretty big names to their list of additional cast members.

We already know that Paul Rudd, Evangeline Lilly, and MIchael Douglas will be back to reprise their roles as Scott Lang aka Ant-Man, Hope Van Dyne aka The Wasp, and Hank Pym (also the original Ant-Man) respectively. Along with them will be Michael Peña, T.I., Bobby Cannavale, David Dastmalchian, and Judy Greer to reprise their supporting roles.

The new notable additions are Laurence Fishburne, Michelle Pfeiffer, Walton Goggins, Hannah John-Kamen, and Randall Park.

Fishburne will be playing Dr. Bill Foster who in the Marvel Universe is an ally to Hank Pym and the Avengers, and holds the alias of Goliath. Pfeiffer’s role is of Janet Van Dyne, Hope’s mother and Hank’s wife. As you recall in the first film, they briefly mention her as sacrificing herself to disarm a Soviet missile by shrinking herself so small that she was lost in the Quantum Realm. Since Pfeiffer is taking on the role, we’re hoping this could be a reunion for the lost original Wasp, but it could also be flashbacks.

Goggins will be playing a character named Sonny Burch, while John-Kamen will be playing Dawn, a.k.a. Ghost, a professional corporate sabatoeur.

Lastly, Park will be playing Jimmy Woo, an agent of S.H.I.E.L.D., and you can read more about his role here.

Here’s the new official synopsis:

From the Marvel Cinematic Universe comes a new chapter featuring heroes with the astonishing ability to shrink: “Ant-Man and The Wasp.”  In the aftermath of “Captain America:  Civil War,” Scott Lang (Rudd) grapples with the consequences of his choices as both a Super Hero and a father.  As he struggles to rebalance his home life with his responsibilities as Ant-Man, he’s confronted by Hope van Dyne (Lilly) and Dr. Hank Pym (Douglas) with an urgent new mission. Scott must once again put on the suit and learn to fight alongside The Wasp as the team works together to uncover secrets from their past.

Ant-Man and the Wasp is scheduled for a July 6, 2018 release.
