Anya Taylor-Joy, Nick Robinson, and Three More Join WEETZIE BAT Adaptation

Cult classic WEETZIE BAT nabs popular actors from young Hollywood for movie adaptation!

Nearly three years after intentions for the movie were announced, the adaptation of Francesca Lia Block‘s 80s YA cult classic Weetzie Bat has its core cast!

Anya Taylor-Joy (Split) will play the title character, a pixie in Los Angeles who goes out on the town with her best friend Dirk, who will be portrayed by Theodore Pellerin (Boy Erased,) in hopes of finding love. It’s on this mission that she meets Nick Robinson‘s Max, a mysterious filmmaker, and in a Love, Simon reunion, a surfer named Duck played by Keiynan Lonsdale. When Weetzie’s happiness is threatened by Max’s witch of an ex-girlfriend, Vixanne aka¬†Sasha Lane (The Miseducation of Cameron Post,) she’ll be forced to let go of her eternal optimism and embrace the dark side of the city.

Deadline announced the castings, calling the project “a neon lit fairy tale”.
