AQUAMAN standalone anchors down an unexpected release date!

The King of The Seven Seas finally has his solo movie release date locked down.

Warner Bros. announced that the Aquaman movie is set to swim into theaters on October 5, 2018. With 3D and IMAX showings planned to start at the same time, you’ll be able to check this one out in whatever format you like best, according to Deadline.

It looks like DC might be look to avoid too much competition, as early October certainly isn’t the usual release date for a blockbuster comic film. So far, this film is the only one to schedule a release that weekend, but it’s still early.

Though it’s his first solo movie, Aquaman– portrayed by Jason Momoa— will have made two appearances in the DC Extended Movie Universe by then. First, in this year’s Batman V: Superman: Dawn of Justice, then in 2017’s Justice League movie. We’ll already be familiar with Arthur Curry’s adventures by the time this one comes along, but it will be the first in-depth look at his life under the seas with Queen Mera, who will be played by Amber Heard.
