Although it hasn’t been officially confirmed by the studio, actor Asa Butterfield did confirm with Hey U Guys that he has talked with director Tim Burton about the movie, Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children.
At the interview, which took place at the 2014 British Independent Film Awards, he talks about being nominated in the Best Actor category for his role in X+Y before he states briefly about the Miss Peregrine movie, which is based on the novel of the same name by Ransom Riggs.
I wasn’t quite as enamored with the book as some people were, but the idea of seeing it on film, and having it directed by Tim Burton actually excites me, as the book is very unique, not only in it’s storytelling, but in the real antique (and somewhat disturbing in their odd way) photos that are integrated throughout the book.
Ever since the start of his young career, Asa has made a name for himself in such films as Son of Rambow, The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas, and Hugo, which he was nominated for in several awards circuits. He also delivered a wonderful performance on the small screen as the cunning menace Mordred in BBC’s Merlin series.
Before X+Y, he was last seen on the big screen as tortured soul Ender Wiggin in the film adaptation of Orson Scott Card’s sci-fi classic Ender’s Game.
