A WRINKLE IN TIME snags an award-winning director!

The Wrap has allegedly received word that Ava DuVernay, the talented director behind Selma and Middle of Nowhere, is official set to direct Disney’s adaptation A Wrinkle In Time by Madeleine L’Engle!

DuVernay will work with Frozen’s Jennifer Lee, who is developing the screenplay based on the classic children’s novel. It was rumored weeks ago that Ava DuVernay was in talks for the project, but is the first confirmation of her involvement.

A Wrinkle In Time follows Meg Murray and her brother Charles Wallace who go on an adventure with their friend, Calvin, to find their father after he disappears while studying a secretive fifth dimension. The series is known for being a thrill ride, as well as a childhood sample for many readers, though Disney has only announced plans to adapt the first book (so far.)

Filming on A Wrinkle In Time is expected to begin in late 2016. A tentative release date has not been established yet.
