PLANET OF THE APES series director moves to superhero action lore!

Ben Affleck officially stepped down as the director of Batman solo flick The Batman only last week, but Warner Bros. has already found his replacement.

After a search that reportedly included several A-list directors, the studio has signed Matt Reeves on for the project. Reeves’ past credits include found footage monster thriller Cloverfield, Swedish horror remake Let Me In, and both Dawn of the Planet of the Apes and the upcoming War of the Planet of the Apes.

According to THR, Reeves met with the studio on Friday to solidify negotiations.

Ben Affleck, who co-wrote the script for the film, originally stepped down from the actor to focus on his character portrayal, saying: “Performing this role demands focus, passion and the very best performance I can give. It has become clear that I cannot do both jobs to the level they require.”

The Batman is expected out sometime in 2018.
