Becky Albertalli Surprises Readers with LOVE, CREEKWOOD, A Simonverse Novella

We can’t possibly be mad that Becky Albertalli, author of Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda has now gone back on her word and has given us a novella from the Simonverse. No, we’re certainly not, because we fell in love with Love, Creekwood, as soon as she announced it on her Instagram.

Me for literally years and years: this is the end of the Simonverse. There are no sequels coming. That will not be a thing. Never. Absolutely not. Me right now: Surprise!! LOVE, CREEKWOOD, a Simonverse novella, releases in the US from @harpercollins/ @balzerandbray on 6/30/20 in hardcover, e-book, and audio. No info yet on international availability, but I hope to know more soon! Cover art is by Chris Bilheimer; cover design is by Jenna Stempel-Lobell. I’m OBSESSED. It’s about a third of the length of a Simonverse book, all emails, and it’s set during the gang’s first year of college (after Leah on the Offbeat, before Love, Victor). DEFINITELY contains spoilers for Simon and Leah’s books. Also contains: shenanigans, exclamation points, yearning, Drunk Simon, Nostalgic Blue, Finals Week Abby, Valentine’s Day Leah, big decisions, and MUCH talk of kissing. I’m donating 100% of my English language royalty advance to @trevorproject, the leading national organization providing crisis intervention and suicide prevention services to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and questioning (LGBTQ) young people under 25. It’s hard to explain how important the Trevor Project is to me. Not being able to directly help teens in crisis was the hardest part of going from psychologist to author. Trevor does the work that I can’t, and they do it with such thoughtfulness, care, and commitment to research-based best practices. They offer internationally accessible online resources and communities for LGBTQ young people, and they have saved *many* of my readers’ lives. And, as I’m sure you can imagine, there’s been a huge spike in the volume of crisis calls due to COVID19 and its specific impact on LGBTQ youth. (Note: legal language around disclosing donations is complicated, but suffice it to say that all advances and royalties will be donated to charity.) And y’all, thank you so much for supporting this series over the years. Your enthusiasm is the reason I had the opportunity to write this. AND!!!! I’ll be going live with @epicreads on Friday, 4/24 at 4:00pm ET to answer your questions…and to make *another* special announcement. 😊

The title is based on the name of the high school Simon, Leah, and all their friends, as well as Victor (the titular character in the Hulu series spin-off), attend high school.

Here’s the little tidbit of a summary:

It’s been more than a year since Simon and Blue turned their anonymous online flirtation into an IRL relationship, and just a few months since Abby and Leah’s unforgettable night at senior prom.

As stated in her post, Becky is forwarding all her English language royalties to The Trevor Project, a suicide prevention and crisis intervention organization focused on helping the LGBTQ+ youth under 25, which we absolutely love!

Even though it’s a novella, the book will be out in hardcover as well as paperback and digital. We highly recommend you order a copy of the book, which comes out June 30, 2020.
