After negotiations with Joaquin Phoenix fell through, Marvel has announced that none other than Benedict Cumberbatch will be stepping into the role of the Sorcerer Supreme, DOCTOR STRANGE!
Cumberbatch’s casting agreement is reportedly in its final stages and comes as a very pleasant surprise, seeing as his name was not on the rumored shortlist for the role which included Ryan Gosling, Ethan Hawke, and Keanu Reeves, among others.
Marvel is holding a major press event tomorrow, at which time we expect news on the casting and possibly some other big plans. We’ll keep you updated!
DOCTOR STRANGE is due in theaters on July 18, 2016.
