Bianca Faces Off Against The Mean Girls In THE DUFF “4-Letter Word” Trailer

It’s time for moviegoers to learn a new 4-letter word!

DUFF: Designated Ugly Fat Friend. It’s a rather gruesome stereotype, for sure, and Bianca (Mae Whitman) isn’t taking her newly discovered categorization lightly. Especially since it’s coming from Hamilton High’s stereotypical jock, Wesley Rush. But Bianca is taking the silly title perpetuated by her classmates in stride in the latest trailer for the film.

Watch as Bianca and her best friends, Jess (Skyler Samuels) and Casey (Bianca A. Santos), take on Bella Thorne’s mean girl character created specifically for the movie adaptation, Madison, and the third trailer for the film:

The two can also be seen going toe-to-toe in the new “Fight It” TV spot:

THE DUFF certainly seems to be going for a MEAN GIRLS or EASY A type of vibe, with Madison serving as the Regina George or Marianne. Still, it’s hard to tell if the character (or perhaps, Bella Thorne’s portrayal of the character) will be an improvement on the original story. THE DUFF is a really impressive book without a stereotypical bullying antagonist, but we’re still interested in seeing how it plays out in movie form.

THE DUFF is coming to theaters on February 20, 2015.
