Lorde just recorded her song for the Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 soundtrack, and Billboard was there giving us a glimpse inside the session and so more information about the still-to-be-named track!
As for the new song, which will be played over the film’s closing credits, fans can expect to hear music that is “moody, dark and powerful, ” Leidersdorrf said.
Lorde recorded the yet-unnamed track with Grammy-winning producer Paul Epworth (Adele, Coldplay, U2, Bruno Mars) who flew in for the two-day session, which took place from Aug. 28-29. The track was engineered by Matt Wiggins, who took time out from a recording session with U2 to make the trek to New Jersey, and Lakehouse engineer Eric Romero.
Lorde shared lyrics to the song on her Twitter page, which Leidersdorrf confirmed are the opening lines. “I’m a princess cut from marble, smoother than a storm,” read the handwritten words.
In case you missed it, here’s her lyrics tweet:

Thoughts? I know it’s only a few lines, but I think it sounds very appropriate for the film — I’m feeling optimistic about this soundtrack!
