It was announced that THE FLASH movie has signed on Watchmen star Billy Crudup to play Barry Allen’s father.
Billy Crudup, who played physicist Dr. Jon Osterman in the Watchmen movie, is currently in talks to be in The Flash movie. Crudup’s first venture into a DC comics movie was in Watchmen as the physicist Osterman, who turned into metahuman Dr. Manhattan. The movie did not live up to the hype, however, Crudup’s role as the blue multi-powered schizoid was impressive in both characterization and physicality. He did, after all, have to be naked through much of the movie.
As Barry Allen’s father, Henry Allen, there’ll be a lot less naked and a lot more emotion. With Ezra Miller playing Barry, aka The Flash, it’ll be fun to watch the dynamic between the two. Both are especially talented.
Crudup’s past credits include Almost Famous, Big Fish, Eat, Pray, Love, and the voice of Ashitaka in the English version of Princess Mononoke.
He’ll soon be seen alongside Naomi Watts in the Netflix TV series, Gypsy. He’ll also be seen in the anticipated Promethues sequel, Alien: Covenant, also starring Michael Fassbender.
The Flash movie is expected to hit theaters in 2018.
