BLACK LIGHTNING Adds Grammy Winner Jill Scott

Oh-so-professional criminal Lady Eve is coming to BLACK LIGHTNING!

Jill Scott is best known as a powerhouse singer, but she’ll soon be putting her acting chops to work on The CW’s latest DC superhero adaptation, Black Lightning!

Cress Williams stars in the show as Jefferson Pierce aka Black Lightning, a superhero with the ability to manipulate electrical currents, control force fields, and even do a bit of flying. He hung up his superhero suit long ago in favor of becoming a principal, but as times change–- particularly when a star student joins a gang and his teen daughter finds herself in trouble. Jefferson realizes Black Lightning is needed once again.

According to Deadline, Scott will play Lady Eve, a funeral parlor owner by day and a savvy villain serving as the middle man between Tobias Whale (Marvin “Krondon” Jones III) and the corrupt businessmen of Freeland by night.

This certainly isn’t Scott’s first time acting. She’s had roles on Broadway, as well as in a number of TV shows and movies including Why Did I Get Married?, The No. 1 Ladies’ Detective Agency, Steel Magnolias, and more.

Black Lightning is expected to have a mid-season premiere, but an exact date hasn’t been announced quite yet.
