Oh, book release day! You glorious, wondrous day!
There’s nothing quite like the big day when the book you’ve been anticipating for ages hits shelves. Today, it’s Cassandra Clare’s Lady Midnight for us. To celebrate, we’re taking a careful look at with book release day entails for fangirls around the world.
First, it starts off with a conundrum: eBook or physical copy?
If you’re in the eBook crowd, your pre-order is sent to your eReader at midnight on release day. At which time to may start to read. Just a little bit. Really!
Until the alarm clock goes off a you realize you’ve only slept for two hours.
If you’re a physical book lover, there’s more waiting involved. Books tend to be released on Tuesdays and most of us have school or work. Which means we either pull a Karen…
Or we spend the whole day unable to read while the entire Internet drops hints about the awesomeness of the novel. We’re frantic yet dying slowly on the inside.
Once free of responsibility, hardcover lovers have two routes.
1) Race to the nearest bookstore.
2) Wait for that magical package delivery anywhere between “soon” and THE DAY AFTER NEVER.
If you’re like us, you may decide on more than one of these options. Because multiple copies of the same book ain’t no thing!
Finally, the book is in your hands!
You brush off parents, siblings, friends, and significant others to get into your reading groove– as politely as possible, of course. *cough*
It’s not that you want to rush it, but one of your friends is going to read this book at the speed of light and they will want to discuss it. Until you finish, you can feel them just…
The story begins and that all fades away. You get caught up in the world building and the characters and the action, because DAMN is it fun!
You discover your OTP and cling to it because there are just SO MANY FEELS!
Of course, you also discover the sketchy characters who you may or may not hate, but that comes with the territory.
In the end, there’s just nothing better than opening up a new book that you’ve been waiting for ages to get your hands on. It’s like a little party for you and your fandom friends, so be ready to celebrate!
