Book Review: GHOSTLY ECHOES A Jackaby Novel by William Ritter

In GHOSTLY ECHOES Jackaby and Abigail race to solve the murder of their friend Jenny Cavanaugh!

ghostly-echoes-cover*spoiler warning* This review is almost impossible to do as everything I write seems to feel like a spoiler. Yet Jackaby would not accept that excuse so you have been warned.

Ghostly Echoes carries on from where Beastly Bones left off, with Abigail and Jackaby attempting to solve the murder of their landlady/friend Jenny Cavanaugh.

That’s really all I can say without spoiling the book for you. Even talking about the new characters would be a spoiler. But be rest assured. They are all perfect. If you enjoy Mr. Ritter’s writing style then, you will love this book. As you may remember from my review of Beastly Bones I felt that it was a filler novel and was setting everything up for the next novel, Ghostly Echoes. I definitely feel like it was worth the wait and even though I said that if you didn’t like filler novels to skip Beastly Bones, I take it back. To understand what is happening, you really need to read all the books.

There is still one other novel which is to come, but Ghostly Echoes didn’t feel like a filler. There was a complete storyline. It was engaging and full of twists and turns. This novel greatly expands the Jackaby universe. The first book set up the basic universe and Beastly Bones prepared for the next stage. However, Ghostly Echoes changed the rules of the game. It brought more players you would never think existed.

From how this novel ended, I would guess that the next book will focus mainly on Jackaby. Although readers do find out more about his background and how he became who he is, there is so much more that I want to know.

I feel that I need to mention something about Abigail and Charlie. In my last review I said they won me over as a couple. But after reading this book I am not so sure anymore. This is not to say that anything bad happens to them. I just have gone back to feeling that the romance between the two was forced.
