When I finished the Caraval trilogy just weeks before attending BookCon 2019, I knew there was one author I wanted to speak with: Stephanie Garber. I will admit I had resisted reading Caraval, as it did not sound like my type of story. But Garber’s trilogy brought magic and mystery alive with such spirit, and I just couldn’t get enough.
So I jumped at the chance to sit down and talk with Stephanie Garber at BookCon. We talked about her process of creating the trilogy, switching points of view, Legend’s identity, pseudo-villains, the difference between love and infatuation, and more. Check out the full interview below!
Note: discussed some spoilers for the first two books (Caraval and Legendary) in the interview, so pay attention to the questions to see if you should skip again. Garber was very clear she does not discuss spoilers for Finale, so you are safe if you’re still working through that final book. (Though you should read it– it’s wonderful!)
So, what did you think of the Caraval trilogy? Did any of Garber’s responses surprise you? Are you dying to read whatever comes next, like us? We’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments!
