Cassandra Clare’s Clockwork Angel listed in honorable list for having one of the most beautiful sentences in literature.

Cassandra Clare’s novel, Clockwork Angel, and The Infernal Devices series has some amazing and memorable sentences in modern literature, and we’re not just saying that because we love the books, either. Through a poll of Buzzfeed Community members as being , a list has been compiled of some of the best and most beautiful sentences from books.

Amongst the list are sentences from J.D. Salinger, Jane Austen, Oscar Wilde, and a YA favorite, Stephen Chbosky.

But another YA favorite has the honor gracing this list! The fabulous creator of the vast and dynamic Shadowhunter world, Cassandra Clare.

Clare, having written the best-selling The Mortal Instruments and The Infernal Devices series, was chosen because of this beautiful sentence —

“One must be careful of books, and what is inside them, for words have the power to change us.”

This line comes from Tessa Gray in the first book of The Infernal Devices trilogy, Clockwork Angel.
