Clary Fray gets a special birthday snippet from QUEEN OF AIR AND DARKNESS!

The Mortal Instruments‘ Clary Fray first encountered the Jace, Alec, and Isabelle on her sixteenth birthday, August 23, 2007. That means today, the character turns 27 years old!

Cassandra Clare celebrated her first main character on Instagram with a heartfelt message and original artwork by Cassandra Jean.

“Happy Birthday Clary! August 23 is a special day for you, Clary, not just because you’re 27 -gasp- today but because it’s also the anniversary of your first kiss,” she said. “Thanks loyal readers for sticking with me since 2007 when we first met this fiery redhead.”

In honor of the occasion, Clare also shared a Clary-centric snippet from Queen of Air and Darkness that seems like it could be seriously romantic OR seriously disastrous. We’ll know in four months!
