Check out the amazing KUNG FU PANDA 3 concept art

Check out the amazing Kung Fu Panda 3 concept art, which shows stunning cinemagraphs of panda village, and was inspired by the filmmakers’ 10-day trip to Sichuan, China.  This trip included watching real-life pandas and Mount Qingcheng, which, like the cinemagraphs show, is often seen covered in mist.

“We used that as a jumping off point for what you saw at the very end of the second film, and then we kind of kept drawing on that experience,” said production designer Raymond Zibach.  Considering the panda village is supposed to be something experienced through the eyes of Po for the first time, it should be especially picturesque when we see it as well.  “The fact that he comes back to other pandas and is going to learn their way of life was kind of magical to him because he thought none of this ever existed,” continued Zibach.

Co-director Jennifer Yuh Nelson said this about the movie:

“It’s a really great opportunity because you get to see what makes Po, Po, what makes him different, what makes him the same, and [we get to] really explore this entire world of pandas.”

Specifically regarding the panda village, Jennifer stated the aesthetic of it:

“Every single moment is about making that place as beautiful as possible.”

The other co-director, Alessandro Carloni, had this to say:

“From a cinematic point of view, it was interesting because we used to cut from a panda to a duck to a tigress to a snake, and now we’re cutting from panda to panda.”

When Po’s long-lost panda father suddenly reappears, the reunited duo travels to a secret panda paradise to meet scores of hilarious new panda characters. But when the supernatural villain Kai begins to sweep across China defeating all the kung fu masters, Po must do the impossible-learn to train a village full of his fun-loving, clumsy brethren to become the ultimate band of Kung Fu Pandas.

Jack Black returns to voice Po, while Breaking Bad‘s Bryan Cranston voices Po’s father Li.  And Whiplash‘s J.K. Simmons lends his voice for the villain Kai.  Pitch Perfect‘s Rebel Wilson also has a role as Mei Mei, another panda in the village.

Kung Fu Panda 3 hits theaters January 29, 2016.
