Archangel Michael returns in season 13 of SUPERNATURAL, and he’s “conquered the world.”
Warning: **Spoilers** from the Season 12 finale of Supernatural
It’s been eight seasons since the Archangel Michael made an appearance on Supernatural. Back in season 5, Michael’s vessel – the body of the person he took over – was Adam Milligan (Jake Abel), Sam and Dean’s half-brother. It’s silly to think we’d never see Michael again, too, although it has been a while. And now he’s back!
If you recall from the show’s season 12 finale, a rift was opened to an alternate world due to Lucifer’s son’s birth. The alternate world was desolate and ravaged from the eternal war between heaven and hell, and not only that, but Sam and Dean were never born in that world. Definitely not a good place. It was here that Mary Winchester (Samantha Smith) had thrown Lucifer (Mark Pelligrino) into, along with herself, before the rift closed. And this is where Michael enters the picture.
As you can see from the photo, Michael is not using Adam Milligan as his vessel, as Adam, like Sam and Dean, doesn’t exist in this alternate world. The new Michael is played by Christian Keyes, and according to showrunner Andrew Dabb, he’s “a very different character than the one we met even in season 5. He’s Genghis Khan. He’s been through the wars. He’s conquered the world.”
We wonder what new bit of information will mean for Mary, who’s stuck in Apocalypse world with Lucifer and now Michael. But it does look like we haven’t seen the last of her… just yet. And the boys haven’t seen the last of Apocalypse world, as Dabb teased about worlds colliding.
Supernatural season 13 premieres Thursday, October 12, on the CW at 8pm.
