Paramount Pictures announced today that Chris Hemsworth will return for STAR TREK 4!
Everyone’s favorite Norse god is reprising his role in the franchise as George Kirk, the father of James T. Kirk. Chris Hemsworth started off the first scene of franchise’s reboot, a Star Fleet captain who sacrificed his life to save his crew and family from time-traveling Romulans. Apparently though, rumors of his demise have been greatly exaggerated.
According to the studio, James Kirk will meet a father who “he never had a chance to meet, but whose legacy has haunted him since the day he was born.” Following in his father’s footsteps played heavily into the first movie, and he addresses it in STAR TREK BEYOND’S trailer.
It also makes sense with the story. Though in real life Chris Hemsworth hasn’t aged the thirty-five years that STAR TREK 4 would call for, he was fighting time-traveling aliens, so they can explain it by some kind of time paradox from the battle.
We have a bit of a wait for STAR TREK 4. STAR TREK BEYOND comes out this week. Still, it’ll be a blast to see both Chris Pine and Chris Hemsworth interact on the big screen!
