It’s official! Chris Pine is confirmed to play Steve Trevor in the first Wonder Woman movie. It had already been known that he was in talks with DCE for a role, but it wasn’t known which role he was in talks for.
There were rumors he could be playing Hal Jordan/Green Lantern, but obviously, that rumor was scrapped when The Wrap broke the casting news. And it’s pretty unlikely that he’ll be taking on the Lantern role anytime in the near future as his role as Steve Trevor is a multi-picture deal.
Steve Trevor is the love interest of Diana Prince, who’ll be played by Gal Gadot. Gadot will have already been seen on next year’s mega-superhero movie Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, so we’ll be familiar with her by the time her solo movie gets on the screens in 2017.
Pine can be seen starting this Friday, July 31st, in the Netflix series Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp. As for seeing him as Captain James T. Kirk, Star Trek Beyond is currently being filmed and is scheduled to hit theaters on July 8, 2016.
