Cloris Leachman, Peter Stormare added to AMERICAN GODS cast

Cloris Leachman to play Zorya Vechernyaya in the new upcoming Starz series, American Gods, the eldest of three sisters.

Cloris Leachman, 89, was announced recently to be cast in the upcoming Starz series, American Gods.  She’ll be playing Zorya Vechernyaya, one of three sisters who watch the constellations in an effort to prevent supernatural terrors.  Zorya is the eldest of three sisters, although we haven’t heard casting news about the other two sisters yet.

In addition to Leachman, three others have been added to the cast, which are Peter Stormare (The CW’s Arrow, 22 Jump Street), Chris Obi (Snow White and the Huntsman), and Mousa Kraish (The LXD, Parenthood).  Stormare will be playing Czernbog, the Slavic god of darkness and evil.  Obi will be playing the Egyptian god of the dead, Anubis.  Kraish will be playing the mythical creature, The Jinn.

The growing cast includes Ricky Whittle (The 100) as main protagonist Shadow Moon, Emily Browning as Laura Moon, and Ian McShane as Mr. Wednesday. Other previous casting announcements included Crispin Glover as Mr. World and Jonathan Tucker as Low-Key Lyesmith.

Production just began this past week and it’s due to start airing sometime in 2017.
