LUKE CAGE villain Cottonmouth proves his rule in new clip!

An enemy of Luke Cage is keeping everyone in line in a new clip from the Marvel Netflix series!

The clip shows Mahershala Ali as Cornell Stokes aka Cottonmouth delighting in his power while torturing a captive. Cottonmouth places the man in front of an iconic image of rapper Notorious B.I.G. and uses the image to explain why he runs such a ruthless criminal enterprise: “Everybody wants to be the king.”

You may recognize Mahershala Ali from House of Cards or The Hunger Games, but we’ll clearly be seeing him in a whole different light on this show!

Luke Cage is third of five Marvel-Netflix shows inked in a 2013 deal. It was predated by Daredevil and Jessica Jones, and will be followed by Iron Fist sometime next year and the team-up effort between all four heroes, The Defenders, which doesn’t have a release time frame quite yet.

The show comes to Netflix on September 30, 2016.

After a sabotaged experiment leaves him with super strength and unbreakable skin, Luke Cage (Mike Colter) becomes a fugitive trying to rebuild his life in modern day Harlem, New York City. But he is soon pulled out of the shadows and must fight a battle for the heart of his city – forcing him to confront a past he had tried to bury.
