Caleb Roehrig preps for an uproarious heist in DEATH PREFERS BLONDES!
After some hauntingly dark mysteries in Last Seen Leaving and White Rabbit, Caleb Roehrig is continuing his heartfelt schemes with a little more levity in his third novel, Death Prefers Blondes!
The novel follows a teen heiress by day who’s taken up a high-stakes hobby in cat burglary by night. When one epic job threatens everything she loves, can Margo and her team of kickboxing drag queens seize AND save the day?
Pop! Goes The Reader revealed the cheeky cover for Death Prefers Blondes created by popular cover designer Rich Deas, and it’s got attitude for days! Take a look:
Roehrig talked to Pop! Goes the Reader about the book and how the original concept sprung up from an episode of I Love Lucy:
“The story of Death Prefers Blondes went through numerous iterations after that initial spark, but two things always stayed the same: Margo’s name, and the bright, bold aesthetics of mod design that informed my visual motifs. That’s why the pop art sensibility of this cover by Rich Deas is so incredibly perfect. The vibrant colors and graphic styling, the font and the cheeky wink…it could be a poster for one of the great heist comedies of the 1960s, like William Wyler’s How To Steal A Million or Blake Edwards’s The Pink Panther — both of which also influenced the novel’s current plot.”
Death Prefers Blondes hits bookshelves on January 29, 2019. You can preorder it now via Amazon or support your local bookstore via Indiebound!
