Mashable released the first look at The Midnight Star, which will follow Adelina Amouteru’s journey after her upheaval of the Kenettra government lands her on the throne as the most powerful (and perhaps the most villainous) malfetto in the nation. Adelina wants to save the malfettos and the innocent people of her country, but can she do it with such dark horrors lingering in her soul?
Worried about will happen at the end of the series? Even Marie Lu was surprised by the way things went, so she thinks readers will be too!
“I am a pantser writer [a writer who works without a story outline], so I don’t always know where my stories are going to end up. The ending for The Midnight Star is quite different from the original ending that I had envisioned, which makes me a little nervous. I hope that readers will like it. I didn’t really see it coming until kind of recently. I am guessing that surprise will carry over to the reader as well.”
The author also promises more important sibling moments between Adelina and Violetta, as well as some uneasy romance blossoming with Magiano. She also shared a few comments and a new quote on Twitter to celebrate:
