CW Adapting LITTLE WOMEN… as a Dystopian Conspiracy Thriller

The CW is developing a very modern take on a classic literary work, LITTLE WOMEN.

A new adaptation of Louisa May Alcott’s Little Women is in the works. Kinda. Sorta. Maybe.

The literary classic is getting an updated adaptation far different from its predecessors thanks to show producer and NCIS star Michael Weatherly and writer Alexis Jolly.

According to Deadline, The March sisters will have “hyper-stylized, gritty” new lives in which…

Jo, Meg, Beth, and Amy band together in order to survive the dystopic streets of Philadelphia and unravel a conspiracy that stretches far beyond anything they have ever imagined – all while trying not to kill each other in the process.

Yup. It’s a conspiracy thriller set in a dystopian Philadelphia. How much relevance the rest of the show will have to the original story remains to be seen, but it looks like the March girls are taking on some new personality traits to start cracking conspiracies.

We don’t know what the conspiracy is, but we’re 70% positive that Laurie is in on it!

Dark takes on classic books and histories are rising up in Hollywood, as evidenced by projects like Pride and Prejudice and Zombies and Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter. We’ll get the final verdict if the show makes in through the pilot season and on to TV sometime in 2016.
