The CW puts superheroes in lead-in prime time slots, and Supernatural moves to Thursdays next season.

Worlds FinestNow that Supergirl has been transferred to the superheros-friendly The CW, it looks like CBS’s sister station will focus their powers on dominating the 8-9pm prime time slots, as superheroes shows Supergirl, The Flash, Arrow, and DC’s Legends of Tomorrow will be airing Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, respectively.

The only oddball would be Fridays at 8pm, with The Vampire Diaries, as we can’t overlook the stations paranormal fanbase.  Plus, until they can get another superheroes-type show going, like, say *cough* Constantine *cough*, Fridays will go to the vamps.  However, the line-up should be helpful for the new shows that follow and the ones that are returning.

arrow-oliver-headWith that in mind, Supernatural moves to Thursday nights, following Legends of the Tomorrow, probably the weakest of the superhero set.  This allows for new series Frequency to try to peak interest from Arrow’s viewers, just as No Tomorrow will try to do with The Flash’s viewers.

Supernatural, will be in its twelfth season in the fall, and has no problem with keeping its fan base no matter what time slot or what day of the week they’re in, so this actually probably helps Legends of Tomorrow more than the other way around.

the-100-new-headerBecause of the addition of four new shows for next season, the CW’s plate is quite full, and you may have noticed a few shows that are not on the schedule.  That’s because they’ve been moved to the mid-season schedule.  Shows that are returning at that time are The Originals, Reign, iZombie, and The 100.  The fourth new show for the CW is the Archie comics-based drama Riverdale.  Unfortunately, fans of these series will have to wait a few more months for their return.
