Dafne Keen, Lin-Manuel Miranda To Star In HIS DARK MATERIALS Miniseries

BBC One’s eight-part miniseries adaptation of Philip Pullman‘s beloved His Dark Materials trilogy has found two of its stars.

Thirteen-year-old Spanish-British actress Dafne Keen, who most notably played X-23 aka Laura in Logan, has signed on to play Lyra Belacqua, an orphan living in a parallel universe version of London who gets herself caught up in a cosmic war while trying to find and save a missing friend.

Lin-Manuel Miranda of Hamilton fame is set to play Lee Scoresby, a balloonist and adventurer from Texas who is a friend of Lyra’s dear armored bear companion Iorek Brynison who aides Lyra on her journey and also helps the witches in their battle against The Magisterium.

According to Deadline, the miniseries will be helmed by Academy Award winner Tom Hooper, who has been passionate about the project and undergoing intricate negotiations with the network for quite some time. Previously, he’s directed prestige projects like The King’s Speech and Les Miserables.

The His Dark Materials miniseries does not have a prospective release date or timeframe yet.
