THE WALKING DEAD prepares to welcome a new group in Season 9!
Season 9 of The Walking Dead will see the show taking some big blows– including the loss of lead actor Andrew Lincoln and the (possibly temporary) departure of Lauren Cohan as Maggie– but there are also two familiar faces joining the mix in new roles.
According to THR, Eleanor Mastuura (Into The Badlands) will take on the role of Yumiko, member of a small group that encounters Jesus and discovers Alexandria years after All-Out War. Little is known about Yumiko other than that she met her girlfriend and group leader, Magna (who has yet to be cast) while traveling through the Washington, DC area. However, in the comics, she’s one of the post time-jump “point of view” characters, which could bleed into the show.
Dan Fogler from the Fantastic Beasts movies will also join the cast in a yet-to-be-revealed role.
The news comes shortly after the casting of Lauren Ridloff as Connie, the show’s first deaf character, last week.
The Walking Dead cast and creators head to Comic-Con today for their panel, at which time the first trailer for Season 9 is expected.
