Baron Zemo will have a look comic fans won’t recognize in CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR!
With all the leaked set photos from Captain America: Civil War out there, it’s a bit surprising that fans never got a shot of Daniel Brühl as the villainous Baron Zemo. But no matter– the actor is already spilling the beans on a surprising twist in his character’s appearance.
While promoting has latest movie, Burnt, with U.K. Business Insider, Brühl revealed that his Marvel character will be without his well-known purple mask!
In the comics, Baron Zemo created a super adhesive while working with the Nazi party and in a grievous accident, adheres the mask to his face for all time. We can’t say we blame Marvel for going forward without that plot line, especially considering the many other elements to cover in Civil War.
In fact, Daniel Brühl says Baron Zemo won’t exactly be like the comic book character in other ways, either.
“You would be surprised, it’s different than what you’d think. It’s loosely connected to this character. But that’s what I like about the Marvel guys, some of the characters and things they’re dealing with always reference to current events so my character is from a different area than you would think.”
The actor has clearly got plenty of confidence in the direction in which Marvel is taking the character, so we’re excited to see how he plays out on the big screen!
Captain America: Civil War hits theaters on May 6, 2016.
