Daniel Dae Kim to take on villainous role in HELLBOY Reboot

Hawaii Five-0 alum Daniel Dae Kim is replacing Ed Skrein in the HELLBOY reboot after the whitewashing controversy.

After backlash from social media about another Hollywood whitewashing situation, and the ever graceful courteousness of Ed Skrein backing out of the Hellboy reboot role that was originally an Asian character, the studio finally got the clue and hired an actual Asian. Thus, Daniel Dae Kim (CBS’ Hawaii Five-0, Insurgent, Allegiant) will be playing villain Ben Daimio.

Recently, he and co-star Grace Park, another Asian-American, exited the CBS series due to not being able to reach an agreement on their salary (being that they were on screen about as much as co-stars Alex O’Loughlin and Scott Caan, they requested equal pay, but were unable to convince the network to agree to it.)

So, it seems like great timing that Kim will be in the film. We’re certainly excited for him to take on the role, even if the guy is a villain.
