Director Chris Columbus also discusses the teething problems with effects in the early movies, saying: “The visual effects in the first film were done towards the end of shooting. So we didn’t have enough time to really get them to where we wanted them to be.

“In the second film I wanted the visual effects to be much better than the first, so what we did is we shot those sequences first. It really enabled us to spend five, six extra months on Quidditch.”
