Australian actor David Wenham is the latest to join the cast of the upcoming Netflix series, Marvel’s Iron Fist.
David Wenham, who appeared in the Lord of the Rings films as Faramir and in 300 as Dilios, has signed on to join the cast of Marvel’s Iron Fist, a new Netflix superhero series based on the Marvel comics of the same name.
Wenham will be playing Harold Meachum, who was partners with Daniel Rand aka Iron Fist’s father, Wendell Rand. They ran Rand Corporation until Meachum turned on Rand during an expedition, one that also was the catalyst for Daniel’s turn into the Iron Fist.
Here’s the synopsis:
Returning to New York City after being missing for years, Daniel Rand fights against the criminal element corrupting New York City with his incredible kung-fu mastery and ability to summon the awesome power of the fiery Iron Fist.
Wenham joins a cast that includes Finn Jones as Danny Rand/Iron Fist and Jessica Henwick as Colleen Wing. More announcements are sure to come as they still have roles to fill, including Shang-Chi, Steel Serpent, Ward Meachum (Harold’s brother) and Joy Meachum (Harold’s daughter).
Iron Fist is the latest Marvel series to be obtained by Netflix. Daredevil was the first, then Jessica Jones, and the upcoming Luke Cage. With the addition of Iron Fist, he closes out the characters needed for The Defenders series that Netflix is planning, which has been stated by Daredevil star Charlie Cox to start filming later this year.
You can see David Wenham next on Lion and the next Pirates of the Caribbean film, Dead Men Tell No Tales, in 2017.
